Pine, original reddish brown stained finish, arched backboard with sloping sides forming a 3″ well, small corner shelf on left back side, finely dovetailed central drawer with thumbnail molded front, with original turned cherry wood pull, poplar secondary wood, all on square and tapered legs, Sabbathday Lake or Alfred, ME, c.1840-1850, 29″ h (back), 22″ h (front), 27 1/2″ w, 16″ d.

Provenance:
Originally from the Louise Spring Shaker collection, formed in the first quarter of the 20th c. at “Spruce Lodge”, East Sullivan, Maine. Sold at auction August 26, 1984 on-site by Mayo Auctioneers. Consigned to WHA by the gentleman who purchased it at the auction. (Note: an auction flyer from this auction accompanies the wash stand.)
