Shaker all wool sweater, cardigan style jacket or coat sweater, with carved mother-of-pearl buttons (one missing), Harvard red, some moth damage; Brother’s handkerchief, white cotton, faintly marked “Otis Sawyer” (1815-1884), Elder at Sabbathday Lake, established the Shaker Village Library in 1882 and was instrumental in the building of the large Brick Dwelling at Sabbathday Lake; Linen hand towel, marked “4” in blue marking thread; Sister’s cotton checkered blue and white kerchief, marked in two corners “M J” (Sister Mary Ann Joslin, Enfield, NH), attached tag, purchased “at Paul McGinnis/Doug Hamel Auction July 28, 1991”; Young girl’s half cape or Bertha, starched linen, fastened with a mother-of-pearl button, c. 1880; Woven linen towel, with written tag from W. Pittsfield.
