Original photographic portrait of 15 Shaker sisters with Elder Henry Green, standing on the doorsteps of the Alfred, Maine Trustee’s Office, c. 1900, 4 1/8″ x 5 3/4″ (sight), 5 1/4″ x 7 3/8″ (card), “Property of Grace Akers, this photo used as cover of Harland Eastman’s Alfred, Maine: The Shakers and the Village (included in lot) on the back of the card; and a rare letter on Elder Henry Green’s stationary dated “Alfred, Me., April 6, 1902”, to “Beloved Sister Clarissa, I enclose check for money in the cloaks sold at the hotels in Florida…”, “To Sister Clarissa Jacobs, Mt. Lebanon, N.Y.” with original envelope and two-cent stamp, the letter is signed “Love and good wishes to all, Ever thy brother, Henry G. Green”.
