Lot 28: Rare Shaker Rug


Cotton and wool, cut into silver dollar circles and folded into triangles, and then shaped into concentric overlapping rows of single colors, pointing towards a small red center, two of these 21″ circles connected and edged with other triangular sewn “dollars”, a multicolor border edged with blue Shaker tape, mounted and wired for hanging, found in Harvard, MA, (see p. 116 and 118, Shaker Textile Arts, Beverly Gordon), exhibited at Fruitlands, Harvard, MA, 1990, 42″ x 21″.
