Cherry, original red varnish stained finish, finely dovetailed case, unique brass “L” corner braces, opening on a step down slanted front for displaying ledgers, bills, etc. in two compartments, key locked (missing key), four holes drilled for carrying, brass rings on lid (possibly for leather handle), c. 1860-1870, (sold WHA, 11/19/00, lot 93), 15 1/4″ h, 27″ w, 5 1/4″ d.
