Walnut and poplar, flat top with rounded corners, and walnut edged front and back, five small drawers stacked on right side, dado joined, carved half-round pulls, full-length central drawer over smaller inset panel cupboard door, flanking a larger inset panel door on left, back side with five small stacking drawers on left next to two inset panels, both sides with two vertical inset walnut framed poplar panels, all on a curved simple molded base, c. 1870-1880, probably made by Brother Emory Brooks (1807-1891) in the 1860’s, when the Groveland, NY community closed in 1892 the furniture came to Watervliet, and then to Mt. Lebanon, purchased from Willard Vine Clerk (Ed Clerk’s older brother) in 1982 (he called it a sewing chest), 29″ h, 39 1/2″ w, 24″ d.
