Description
19th c. oil on canvas on board, Alexander the Great surrounded by mythical admirers, angels, heralds with trumpets, soldier holding a heavenly wreath above Alexander’s head, three Putti with a globe of the world, a figure on the left holding a sheath of wheat and a scroll with inscription “Sept. 1837″, 46″ x 35 1/2”. [Note: overall good condition, tacked to a board at the base of the painting which extends 25 1/2″ to the floor, and the painting was used as a room divider in a Duxbury, MA home, needs cleaning.]
