Pine, original red stained finish, four overlapping wood wraps, stamped on bottom “H.A. & A. So.” (Hingham Agricultural and Horticultural Society) and “D. Bartlett” (Daniel Bartlett), “a 19th c. Hingham woodenware craftsman”, the tub also has hand carved initials “F D”, and a carved maple plug in a round hole, “Hingham Massachusetts was once famous for its woodenware. In Richard Henry Dana’s classic Two Years Before the Mast, Hingham is referred to as Bucket Town.”
