Lot 91I: Aori Horse Armor

Pair of leather embossed and lacquered saddle flaps (16th/18th c). Designed to protect the sides of the horse from bramble and branches in the forests. It attaches to the underside of the saddle. The subject is lacquered with a leaping tiger, head turned back in a forest setting. The borders include embossed three-claw water dragons, 21″ H x 27″ W.
