Lot 166: 19th c. Chinese Export Sewing Box

Octagonal, overall decorated in black lacquer, with gold and silver hand-painted scenes of Chinese family life, brass side handles, carved and gilded feet, hinged lid opens to a sectioned upper box with many ivory spools, pincushion, lidded and lacquered containers, and a drawer below with decorative lacquered lid, overall good condition, some minor paint loss, c. 1840, 6 1/2″ h, 14″ w, 10″ d, (ex. Dr. Oscar and Lois Hollander collection, Falmouth, MA).
