The “Golden Eagle”, in an original wood and glass case, surrounded by three small sailing vessels, see Greyhounds of the Sea, p. 271, 13″ h, 13″ w (ship), 16″ x 26″ x 15″ (case), [The yacht “Sappho” sailed out of the New York Yacht Club and was a defender at the 2nd America’s Cup Challenge. Owned by William Proctor Douglas and launched in 1867. Won the America’s Cup in 1871 (along with the Columbia). The Yacht Cambria raced out of the Royal Thames Yacht Club and was owned by James Lloyd Ashbury. Won the Great Ocean Race and the America’s Cup of 1870.
