Signed on dial “L. Curtis, Patent” (Lemuel Curtis, 1790-1857), eagle finial, brass side arms, weight driven, sea battle on bottom glass, Belknap collection, 33 1/2″ h (to top of finial), 10 1/2″ w. [Note: Lemuel Curtis was a Master Clock Maker, and Aaron Willard’s nephew. Curtis probably apprenticed under Simon Willard. He also was the inventor of the Girandole banjo timepiece patented in 1816. ]
