Lot 10: One-Drawer Blanket Chest

Pine, original red painted finish, single board lid with breadboard ends, interior with pine till box on left side, single lipped drawer with two finely turned Shaker pulls, squared canted feet, 29 1/2″ h, 40″ w, 17 3/4″ d.

Provenance:

Purchased from Andrews in 1946 for $55, who says “From ministry’s shop, Hancock community, c. 1820.Typical bracket feet. Pieces made for the ministry were without exception of the finest workmanship.”
